Happy “It’s okay to dress like a slut” Holiday!

I love Halloween more than most people.  The costumes, carvings, spooky decorations, pumpkin seeds!  While mixed with the enchantment of fall.  While hiking, the smell of the fallen leaves brings me back to when I was young and all the piles we jumped in.  Let me get back on topic though…. There are a couple things that freaking bother me about Halloween.  For instance, if I want to buy a costume why are most of my choices slutty?  Not even just for me an adult female, but also for my daughters age.  It’s as if Halloween is the one holiday a year where ALL women are allowed to dress inappropriately without being judged and this “privledge” is fully taken advantage of.
When we were costume shopping it appeared that if you take 3 feet of material and throw any candy symbol on it then voila you have a costume.  “look at me look at me!  I am wearing a lime green skittles costume” Aka a dress that has less material than my swimming suit with an ” S ” on it.  I also noticed the the smaller the costume the higher the price.  The skittles costume above was the low price of $39.99.  Also, October isn’t the warmest month of the year.  I don’t think trick or treating is as fun when you’re freezing your toosh off.  I must be missing something.
When I was younger I remember dressing up as the “refrigerator Perry” from the Chicago bears.  My costume was a football uniform with a box over it that was made into a fridge.  It had doors and everything… Including condiments.  One year as a princess I wore a long dress that fully covered my body.  My children have been Pippi Longstocking, a storm trooper, Rolie Polie Olie & Zoie Olie, and a m&m that is as wide as the blueberry girl in Willie Wonka… (like what a piece of candy REALLY looks like).  I just think that there Are so many great costume possibilities out there that exposing ones self isn’t necessary.  As far as I remember, all the costumes that I have seen win contests have been more than 3 feet of material.
This isn’t really a blog today I guess.  Just something that has been bothering me the past couple weeks.  I wish you all lots of happy and loving Halloween memories this year.  Please be safe and don’t drink and drive.

Have a wonderful “It’s okay to dress like a slut” holiday!
